Our Work
Real problems, real solutions, real results. See how we've helped universities, investors, and supply chain leaders build impact measurement systems that actually work.
The Problem
ASPECT needed to demonstrate the impact and potential of commercial startups from Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts research (SHAPE disciplines)—areas where traditional tech transfer metrics don't apply. They needed evidence that would convince funders and network members of the value of this work.
What We Did
Over eight months, we designed a theory of change model and impact framework, gathered data from sources within and outside the network, and built a predictive model that could track progress, identify blockages, and forecast outcomes.
The Result
The model enabled ASPECT to track project progress through commercialisation, predict attrition rates, identify where resources would have most impact, and make evidence-based decisions about the programme's future. Universities could see which support activities actually made a difference.
The Problem
LSV needed to demonstrate the economic and social return on their investment in social enterprises—not just feel-good stories, but numbers that would stand up to scrutiny from funders and stakeholders.
What We Did
We developed a comprehensive impact measurement framework mapping ventures to Welsh National Indicators. We quantified job creation, tax revenue generation, and social value, then built trajectory models to forecast future portfolio performance.
The Result
202% demonstrated ROI across the portfolio. Clear evidence of economic contribution that funders could trust. A framework for ongoing measurement that didn't burden the social enterprises with excessive reporting.
The Problem
CDP needed to extend their carbon disclosure framework to SMEs across global supply chains. But SMEs face very different barriers to reporting than large corporates—cost, complexity, capability, and commercial motivation. The existing questionnaire wasn't working.
What We Did
We studied market behaviour across multiple sectors and jurisdictions, engaged with capital providers, corporates, and business organisations, and surveyed SMEs to understand their real barriers. We identified where the system was breaking down and what would need to change.
The Result
A clear roadmap for CDP and stakeholders: simplification, education, digitisation, and incentivisation. Practical solutions for behaviour and system change that could make SME carbon disclosure work at scale.
The Problem
German universities wanted to understand their innovation potential and benchmark their technology transfer activities against international best practice.
What We Did
Through the Catalyst GER programme, we conducted Innovation Potential Audits—systematic assessments of each institution's strengths, gaps, and opportunities in commercialisation and knowledge exchange.
The Result
Actionable recommendations for each university. Clear benchmarks against international peers. Strategic roadmaps for developing innovation ecosystems.
